A man has died after a huge fire destroyed a house in west London.

Two women were also left injured after the blaze broke out at a home on Netley Road in Brentford at 4.03pm on Sunday.

It took more than two hours for fire crews to douse the flames.

Around 65 firefighters were on the scene dealing with the blaze and eight fire engines were in attendance.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said officers were called about 4.05pm on Sunday to reports of the fire.

Three people were treated by the London Ambulance Service and “despite the efforts of paramedics, one person was pronounced dead at the scene”.

A spokesman from the London Fire Brigade said firefighters found the man on the ground floor.

Emergency services are still trying to establish a cause.
