The teenager who died after apparently climbing onto a freight train and touching overhead power lines yesterday evening has been named as Kyle Bradley.

Sixteen-year-old Kyle died at Wrenthorpe Sidings in Wakefield after clambering onto the train at about 6.40pm, transport police believe.

Detectives from BTP (British Transport Police) are not treating his death as suspicious.

An 18-year-old woman and 16-year-old boy who were with him were treated at Pinderfields Hospital before being released. The Office of Rail Regulation is set to carry out its own investigation.

A Network Rail spokesman said: "At 18.44 on Saturday, we were informed of an incident at Wrenthorpe Sidings near Wakefield.

"Our engineers worked at the scene alongside the West Yorkshire Ambulance Service and the British Transport Police.

"Three young people were involved in the incident and sadly one of them, a teenage boy, has died.

"Our thoughts and our deepest sympathies go out to his friends and family."
