Bizarre moment police walk escaped horses down busy high street after they run amok in north London

This is the bizarre moment a group of escaped horses that ran amok in north London were walked down a busy high street by police.

The Met were called just after 1am, in the early hours of Friday, to St Albans Road in Barnet after motorists reported that the horses were causing a hazard on the roads.

Officers had to use water rescue lines to bring the horses under control and were evenutally able to lead them back to the police station.

Video posted on social media shows the animals recieving a police escort down Barnet High Street.

"Luckily one of my officers was an equestrian expert who was able to gently coax the horses into makeshift harnesses using our water rescue ropes that we carry", Inspector Jamie Kay said.

“Leading horses down a busy high street was certainly an unusual spectacle and goes to show the variety of incidents we deal with.

“I would like to remind owners of horses to ensure they are secure in fields or stables to prevent accidents on the roads."

The owner of the horses has been identified and the horses returned.
