Beckham-mania has broken out in London and Paris.

First the family was mobbed outside the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill after the entire venue was hired for their youngest son’s birthday celebrations.

David and Victoria were joined by their four children - Brooklyn, 13, Romeo, 10, Cruz, seven, and 19-month-old Harper – and other family and friends ahead of Cruz turning eight tomorrow.

The family then travelled by Eurostar to Paris where they were given an escort of 20 policemen and 12 plain clothes security men.

It is almost three weeks since 37-year-old Beckham signed for Paris St Germain in a wave of publicity. The family has now taken up residence in a £14,500-per-night suite at the Bristol Hotel, close to the British Embassy.

“It was as if the president of the United States had come to town,” said one onlooker. “The whole place was swarming with security units.”
