Battersea Bridge crash: Motorcyclist killed in crash on west London bridge

A motorcyclist has died after a crash with a Toyota Prius on a bridge in west London.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene following reports of a collision at the north end of Battersea Bridge at around 6.40am on Wednesday.

The rider, a man aged 35, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Prius stopped at the scene and no arrests have been made, police said.

Transport for London issued a warning over delays after police closed off the junction and bridge in both directions. Five bus routes were also put on diversions throughout the morning rush hour.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area if possible.

A Met police spokesman said: Police were called to Beaufort Street/Battersea Bridge Road at 0641hrs on Wednesday, 4 October to reports of a collision between a Toyota Prius and a Honda motorcycle.

“Officers attended. A 35-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.”

They added that formal identification of the motorcyclist will take place in due course and his next of kin are yet to be informed.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information is asked to contact police on 101.
