Arsenal players Alexis Sanchez and Santi Cazorla helped cook meals for young people at the opening of a new homeless facility in central London.

A refurbishment of the health and well-being centre, in Dean Street, Soho, was funded by the club through donations to homelessness charity Centrepoint.

The club’s charity campaign helped raise £500,000 to build new counselling rooms, a recording studio, main hall, kitchen and office space for the Centrepoint team.

Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny and Arsenal staff contributed to the refurbishment by completing the paintwork on the exterior walls of the building.

Mr Sanchez said: “I’m not in Chile this Christmas to help the poor, but this year, the Club is helping me keep up the tradition of giving and today’s visit is about just that. This centre will give people a chance at a better life. A chance to get back on their feet which is such an important start on life’s journey.”

Balbir Chatrik, Centrepoint Director of Policy, said: “Dean Street will be a place for years to come where young people across London can receive the support they need, whether through counselling or learning to eat healthily, to truly leave homelessness behind.”
