A new app is aiming to give black cabs an advantage in London's taxi fares price war.
Londoners will be able to hail a black taxi in central London for a flat £10 rate using on-demand mobile app Gett, which works solely with black cab drivers.
Gett is offering fixed fare rides for the whole of July on the special rate, which is available from 10am to 10pm, Monday to Friday, for customers who are picked up and dropped off in the company’s designated central London zone, which covers an area north of the river running from Westminster up to Marylebone across to Kings Cross and down towards the City.
Gett, available for download on iOS and Android, is one of a number of firms battling for customers in the capital, including controversial minicab app Uber and British firm Hailo.
Last year Gett - then known as GetTaxi - offered Londoners rides for just £5 in the run-up to Christmas, as long as they started in zones three to six and were less than 10km.
