Andy Murray march puts £15,000 price on Wimbledon final

Prices for tickets to the Wimbledon men’s final soared to £15,000 today as excitement grew before Andy Murray’s crunch semi-final match.

The online cost of Centre Court tickets for Sunday rocketed by £3,000 after Murray’s victory over David Ferrer yesterday, with the British public seemingly banking on him reaching the final.

Europe’s largest online ticket marketplace viagogo has seen a 20 per cent increase in searches for tickets to the men’s final, with experts predicting prices could rise to £45,000 for a pair.

Murray, 24, will face France’s Jo-Wilfried Tsonga tomorrow for a place in the final and was today filling up on his favourite food — pasta and sushi.

It is the fourth year in a row that the Scot has reached the semi-finals, equalling Tim Henman’s record at the All England Club. Henman said: “Murray deals with all the hype and expectation very well… I definitely think he can reach the final.”
