A young woman suffered life-changing injuries after being hit by a London bus in Aldgate.

The pedestrian, in her 20s, was struck in St Boltoph Street just before 3.25pm on Monday.

City of London Police, ambulance and fire crews rushed to the junction with Aldgate High Street.

A City of London Police spokeswoman confirmed the woman had been rushed to hospital with life-changing injuries to her legs and pelvis.

Dramatic images showed police vans and fire engines blocking the road while medics tended to the patient.

The road was closed for close to three hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
