A man has been found dead lying at the side of the North Circular carriageway with detectives treating his death as “unexplained”.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 8pm on Monday after reports of a man found unresponsive in Gunnersbury Avenue, Acton.

The man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the side of the usually busy dual carriageway.

Locals reported seeing forensic officers scouring front gardens in the area for clues.

One said: “I was driving past and saw the big tent very sad to see.”

A Met spokesman said the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

He said: “Officers attended with paramedics. A man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers believe they know who the man is and are working to inform his next of kin.”
