A mother and blogger whose incurable lung condition sparked a £120,000 crowdfunding drive backed by comedian Jason Manford has died from her illness, her family said today.

Rachel Clements, 30, wrote about her experience in her Breathlessly Mothering blog.

She had been receiving palliative care since last year after pulmonary fibrosis left her with less than a quarter of her lung capacity. She died in hospital.

Last year Manford helped promote a campaign to help Ms Clements, of Ely, Cambridgeshire, pay off her mortgage so she could leave the home to her three young children, Chloe, 12, Louis, three, and Ivan, 18 months.

In a statement on Instagram, her family paid tribute to “the bravest, strongest and most selfless person you could know”.

They said: “We all love her so much and she will be missed more than words can say.”
