City traders' £100,000 boost to fund
The Evening Standard Dispossessed Fund today received £100,000, taking the total raised to £7.3 million.
The windfall comes from BGC Partners and Cantor Fitzgerald, the City bond dealers who raised
$12 million (£7.8 million) globally last September to commemorate the 658 colleagues who died on 9/11.
The Dispossessed Fund is one of 20 British charities and 75 worldwide charities that benefited from their annual charity day.
The boost to our award-winning fund comes a day after our record handout of £1.25 million to 163 grass-roots charities tackling poverty and benefiting tens of thousands of Londoners.
A total of 560 groups have received grants so far and we have distributed almost £3 million to charitable and community-led projects since the Fund was launched in July 2010.

Brokers of BGC, a subsidiary of Cantor Fitzgerald, give up their commission worldwide every year on the nearest trading day to 9/11. They have raised approximately $77 million (£50.2 million) globally for good causes since 2004.
