A young man has been stabbed to death in an early morning knife attack on a quiet road in east London.

Emergency services descended on the scene at about 2.30am on Saturday following to reports of a disturbance in Bow, less than a mile from London's Queen Mary University.

After they were called to Ropery Street, officers found a 21-year-old man suffering from stab injuries in nearby Eric Street.

Paramedics from London's Air Ambulance treated him at the scene before he was taken to an east London hospital.

He was pronounced dead at 4.52am, police said.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said no arrests have been made.

He added: “His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification is yet to take place.

“A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

“Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command investigate.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police via 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
