A woman has appeared in court accused of trying to attack Simon Cowell with a brick after breaking into his £9 million home.

Leanne Zaloumis, 29, allegedly hid on a shelf in a walk-in wardrobe next to the X Factor mogul’s bedroom on Saturday night.

Cowell, 52, had been in his bedroom watching himself on Jonathan Ross’s ITV 1 show at about 10.30pm. He went to investigate after hearing a noise and saw a woman standing on a flat roof outside a first-floor bathroom window holding a rock above her head.

He retreated to his bedroom with a member of staff and called police, who scoured the garden looking for the intruder. They found a woman hiding on a shelf seven feet off the ground in a walk-in wardrobe next to his bedroom, it is alleged.

At West London magistrates’ court today, Zaloumis, wearing a grey sweatshirt, spoke only to confirm her name and address as she listened the charge of aggravated burglary with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

District Judge James Henderson denied bail and remanded Zaloumis, of Catford, in custody to appear at Isleworth crown court on June 12.

Cowell is said to be boosting security. Spokesman Max Clifford said: “It was a frightening experience for Simon, who told me it was like something from a horror movie.”
