Met Police officers arrived and arrested the trio on suspicion of affray on Friday lunchtime. They were taken into custody before being bailed until next month.

Reports suggest one worker accused his colleague of taking a three-hour break, before informing the company supervisor.

A fight between the three men ensued in front of shocked fans, some of whom were fearful and alerted police, the Daily Mail said.

One fan was heard saying: “Someone call security!”, not realising the incident was in fact between workers.

Scotland Yard said: “At 2pm on Friday, July 1 officers on duty at the Wimbledon Tennis Championships were alerted to an altercation within the grounds.

“Officers attended. Three men aged 19 working at the event were arrested on suspicion of affray.

“There were no reports of any injuries.

“They were taken into custody and were later bailed until a date in late July.”

A company insider said: “It’s embarrassing. To have a fight in front of fans is not a good look. I can’t believe they did that.”

Knights Group Security have been employed by SW19 since 2020 to provide security managers and safety stewards at the Championships. It is among a number of companies providing services.

The firm based in Camberley, Surrey was approached by the Standard. Wimbledon declined to comment.
