Police have released an image of a man they want to speak following a "violent and unprovoked" attack at a London Overground station which saw a 49-year-old rail worker repeatedly punched.
British Transport Police (BTP) were called to Willesden Junction station to reports that a member of staff had been involved in a “nasty” attack.
A man got off an Overground train from Stratford and headed towards the ticket barriers where he started an argument with the staff member before becoming hostile, police say.
The victim was pushed to the floor just before 6.40pm on July 4 and punched four times, causing bruising to his eye.
Investigating officer PC Katie Lockwood said: “This was a violent, unprovoked and nasty assault and we are determined to trace the person responsible.
“No one should ever be treated like this and we will always look to take firm action against those who assault, intimidate or harass passengers and rail staff.
“As part of my enquiries BTP have seized CCTV and spoken with witnesses.
"However, we are keen to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed this assault or recognise the man in the CCTV images.”
