A West Ham United fan allegedly assaulted an Arsenal staff member at the London Stadium just days after club bosses spoke of "successful" moves to rid the ground of troublemakers.

The man is reported to have punched one of the football club's cameramen, who was working for the in-house TV channel, on the stadium concourse, The Mirror reported.

Metropolitan Police have launched a probe into allegations of an assault, believed to have taken place towards the end of West Ham’s 5-1 defeat on Saturday.

The suspect is allegedly a West Ham fan but has not yet been identified.

The alleged incident comes after West Ham bosses promised a “five-point plan” to prevent unrest and banned 71 thugs from the grounds.

The team faced criticism over security standards and crowd control issues following a violent clash at West Ham’s 2-1 EFL Cup win over Chelsea in November.

She said: “The majority of fans are passionate and well behaved. We’ve worked hard to identify troublemakers and that has been successful.”

“No arrests have been made. Enquiries are underway to trace those who were involved.”

A spokesman from West Ham declined to comment.
