A man has been charged with the murder of a father-of-two who was stabbed to death on a busy high street.

Femi Omotoso, 26, of Tudor Gardens, Wealdstone, was charged on Sunday with the murder of Mohammed Al-zufairi.

Mr Al-zufairi, 34, was knifed to death outside a branch of the Halifax bank opposite the recently closed police station on Wealdstone High Street shortly after rush hour on Monday.

He was rushed to hospital in a critical condition and underwent emergency surgery but died in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

His brother, Ali, told the Standard the stabbing happened as Mr al-Zufairi's eight year old daughter bought sweets in a shop just yards away.

“I was nearby and received a call saying my brother had been stabbed", he said.

"I didn’t think it was serious but when I got there they were pumping his chest... It was a terrible scene I will never forget.”

He added: “My brother had just popped out to the shop to get a few things.
