A man who flashed four women on a London-bound train has been banned from wearing shorts on public transport.
Mark Thompson, of Bushey Road, Wimbledon, exposed himself on a train from Epsom to Victoria on April 18, City of London Magistrates’ Court heard.
Thompson, 48, was yesterday sentenced to four months in prison, suspended for two years, and banned from wearing shorts “or anything that exposes bare skin below the knee” while on public transport.
In addition he must not use trains or buses except with an Oyster or contactless card.
Det Const Andrew Parkinson said today: “Thompson made the journey for these women extremely uncomfortable. I am pleased that they reported this incident to us as we take all reports of inappropriate sexual incidents seriously and will investigate them.
“I would like to commend the women in this case for telling us about this incident, and encourage others to follow their example.
“In this case we were able to utilise CCTV to help us find the person responsible.
“The message is clear: unwanted sexual behaviour is not acceptable. If you commit an offence, we will do everything in our power to bring you to justice.”
Thompson must also pay £85 court costs, take part in a sex offenders’ programme for 40 days and report to Wimbledon police station for seven years.
