A van driver was caught reading the Daily Mail at the wheel as he drove along a street in east London.

The motorist was seen with a copy of the newspaper while driving on Lea Bridge Road in Waltham Forest.

A cyclist filmed the incident and uploaded the footage to YouTube under the username Sue Perbs.

YouTube users told of their shock after watching the video.

One said: "Incredible. No shame at all. And where are the police?"

Another wrote: "Unbelievable!"

Police have confirmed they are investigating the incident on October 27 and the driver will be summoned to court.

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "An allegation has been received and a notice of intended prosecution has been issued.

"The driver will be summonsed to attend court by post."

Anyone with information can contact police on 101.
