Two prisoners have been arrested in connection with the murder of a former drug smuggler who was shot dead on his driveway in west London.

Father-of-three Redwan El-Ghaidouni was fatally shot as he sat in the driver’s seat of his car outside his family home in Hillingdon last year.

The suspects, aged 39 and 35, were both in prison at the time of the murder and were arrested at separate jails on Tuesday.

Mr El-Ghaidouni, 38, had a history of drug convictions but had turned his back on crime since serving a jail term and was working at a car dealership when he was killed on February 3 2015.

He was shot multiple times as he sat in his car in front of the house he shared with his long-term partner and three young sons.

The arrests come after Scotland Yard offered a £50,000 reward for information leading to the prosecution of his killers.

Police have already arrested three men aged 30, 36 and 41 and a 35-year-old woman on suspicion of conspiracy to murder who are currently on bail.

DCI Noel McHugh, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: "Extensive enquiries have been carried out and we have made good inroads into understanding the circumstances surrounding Redwan's murder.

"Our investigation continues and we are still very much encouraging people to come forward.

"I would like to thank all those who have assisted us so far and I hope the large reward on offer will prompt anyone who has yet to do so to approach us in confidence.

"We continue to look into his background for answers about what happened but, whatever the circumstances, his murder has left three young sons without a father and his long-term partner devastated."

Mr El-Ghaidouni was approached by a hooded man after he pulled into his driveway shortly after 7pm.

The man opened fire through the car window before running off through an alleyway.

The suspect was also caught on CCTV near the area in the days leading up to Mr El-Ghaidouni's death in what are thought to be aborted murder attempts.

Police are still trying to trace a man who was seen at around 6pm on the night the victim died, standing on a verge opposite his house.

Anyone with information can call police on 020 8785 8099 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
