Four people have been arrested after a young man was stabbed on a busy road in south London.

Emergency Services raced to the scene of the incident in Norwood Road, Tulse Hill, at about 7.45pm on Thursday.

The victim, believed to be 23, was rushed to a south London hospital.

Dramatic images from the scene showed the pavement outside a restaurant in the street splattered with blood.

Others showed a large police presence and a cordon surrounding the crime scene.

Witnesses described seeing officers searching the area.

One told the Standard: “Around 20 police with dogs. They appeared to be searching a house inside the cordon.

“Also two cars parked in a strange way… lots of damage to the exterior.”

The incident is understood to have happened outside a parade of shops and restaurants near the junction with York Hill and Lancaster Avenue.

A Met Police spokeswoman said: “Two men and two women were arrested at the scene on suspicion of GBH with intent.

“They have been taken to a south London police station. A crime scene is in place. Enquiries continue.”

Scotland Yard later said the victim's injuries were not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
