Three men have been jailed over the knife killing of a man on the streets of south London because a serving prisoner had called for "revenge" on him.

Music promoter Olamide Fasina, 25, was attacked by an armed gang on the Thamesmead Estate, Erith, in broad daylight last October.

Witnesses said Mr Fasina, nicknamed Trigger but also known as Ben, was seen "crawling" along Wolvercote Road in search of help before collapsing.

An air ambulance landed in the playing field of a nearby primary school and doctors and a paramedic performed surgery in the street in a 30-minute battle to save him before he was pronounced dead.

Mr Fasina had been stabbed through the heart.

The Old Bailey heard convicted drug dealer Steven Ngolo, 22, of Abbey Wood, had phoned Louis Henry, 22, and Alvin Ansah-Baaphy, 23, from his cell in Thameside Prison, urging them to take "revenge" on Mr Fasina for a previous incident.

Ngolo and Ansah-Baaphy, also of Abbey Wood, were jailed for three years for conspiracy to cause actual bodily harm.

Henry, of Eltham, was jailed for 12 years for manslaughter.

Police today said the fatal knifing followed "a dispute between young men".

"I would like to pay tribute to the family of Olamide, who have been left devastated by this incident and the loss of their son.

"They have been left numb by the experience but have been extremely supportive of the inquiry. I hope, for them, this represents some justice and that they can begin rebuilding their lives."

Mr Fasina's Uncle Samuel told the Standard in October his nephew had died just yards from his family home.

"He was a very respectful boy," he said. "I’m so shocked.

"I wouldn’t have expected this, ever. He was only 25.

"For his parents who have been around and supported him for 25 years it is devastating. His mum is in bits."

His younger brother wrote on Twitter: "Life is short. Never even got a chance to say I love you to my brother. This really is a lesson that we need to keep our family at heart."
