A 20-year-old who was found dying in the street near Tower Bridge was a "harmless and fun" charity fundraiser, his family said today.

Tommy Blackmore, from Bermondsey in south London, was found with critical injuries at about 2.30am on Saturday, near to Tower Bridge, and died in hospital just over an hour later.

Police believe he was injured following an argument involving "a number of men and women" which began in Tower Bridge Road and moved to Queen Elizabeth Street.

He was named this evening as Scotland Yard released an emotional tribute from his grieving relatives.

His family revealed the he was was heavily involved in the Fight 4 Cancer charity, helping to raise thousands for Cancer Research UK by hosting charity boxing matches.

The family statement said: "A few words about Tommy: The youngest of three boys and absolutely doted on by friends and family alike.

"He was a loving and fiercely loyal son, brother, uncle and friend. He made an impact on and had time for everybody who crossed his path.

"A vibrant character, cheeky, charming, comical and wise way beyond his 20 years.

"He was one of the promoters for and heavily involved in the Fight 4 Cancer charity which has so far raised over £32,000 for Cancer Research UK. "

The family said he was a lifelong Millwall fan who loved sport and played football regularly.

They added: "He was a well-loved and hugely popular boy which has been demonstrated by the sheer number of people who have left a sea of flowers and tributes both at his family home and at Tower Bridge.

"The respect and love that has been shown is usually reserved for someone much older and is a testament to what a terrible loss has been suffered."

Mr Blackmore was found in Queen Elizabeth Street, near to nightlife hotspot Tooley Street, after police were called to a "disturbance".

A murder probe was launched and officers have since arrested four men.

A 28-year-old is being held in custody on suspicion of murder and two men, aged 34 and 21, have been released on police bail after being arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Another man, 24, was arrested on suspicion of murder but has since been released with no further action being taken.

Detective Chief Inspector Rebecca Reeves said: "The area around Tooley Street has a popular nightlife and I would ask that anyone who had been to a club in the area and may have witnessed the assault to contact us.

"A number of night buses also use this route and it is possible that someone travelling to work, or heading home, may have seen something that will assist our investigation."

Anyone with information is asked to contact the incident room on 020 8721 4868, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
