A 20-year-old man has been taken into custody after a woman was subjected to an attempted rape in south London.

A woman called the police at roughly 2.50am on Sunday to report what had happened at Tooting Common.

She is now receiving specialist support from officers, Scotland Yard said.

The man who was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape remains in custody.

The Metropolitan Police has asked anyone who may have seen anything relevant to get in touch.

Any witnesses are asked to call police on 101 or ‘X’ @MetCC and quote CAD931/14Apr.
