Two men who murdered a builder in broad daylight outside a school have been locked up for life with a 30-year minimum term.

Terngu Agera and Stephen Lansana were convicted yesterday of murder, robbery and conspiracy to burgle for killing Zydrunas Laurinavicius as he walked home with his 67-year-old father in west London.

Today a judge caged them for the deadly stabbing of Mr Laurinavicius, 38, outside St Mary’s High School in Parson Street, Hendon, in July.

Their three accomplices have also been jailed for conspiracy to burgle.

Mr Laurinavicius and his father Pranas had been returning from a building they were renovating when the gang set upon them and stole the younger man's bag and watch.

His devastated family told the Standard at the time the bag had been empty.

The three accomplices - Marlon O'Brien, 22, of Victoria Dock, Terae Eusebe, 21, of East Ham, and Stratford man Bruno Guimaraes, 23 - were today jailed for 24, 28 and 36 months respectively.

Agera, 23, of Custom House, and homeless Lansana, 22, attacked their victim in broad daylight. Police found the younger man bleeding to death in the street, where he died a short while later despite attempts to save him.

Mr Laurinavicius's sister, who hours later phoned from abroad to wish a family member happy birthday, was so shccked by the news she ended up on medication in hospital.
