Three police officers have been injured after men became involved in a brawl on a south-east London high street.

Police were called to reports of a fight between three men on Plumstead High Street in Greenwich at 2.14pm on Tuesday.

Scotland Yard said three officers sustained cuts as they tried to break up the fight. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

The incident took place at the interchange with Lakedale Road, according to one user on Twitter, who said there had been a “stabbing”.

The owner of Sageenta Silk Emporium said: "They were very young, about 22-25, the police woman got involved and she must have got cut, they broke her finger and she was bleeding.”

Two men were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. They were taken to a south London police station where they remain.

One suspect remains outstanding, as officers from Greenwich borough investigate.
