A man is fighting for life after being repeatedly stabbed and left for dead by thugs in south London.

The victim, aged 23, was found by police bleeding heavily with multiple stab wounds in Thornton Heath, Croydon on Wednesday.

Two men are believed to have fled the scene shortly after the attack at around 8.30pm, Scotland Yard said.

The victim was found at Bensham Lane, close to the junction with Lodge Road, but is believed to have been knifed in nearby Kelling Gardens.

He is currently in a critical condition at a south London hospital, police said.

Detectives are hunting two men believed to be involved in the attack, which is being treated as attempted murder.

The first suspect is described as a black man, of a heavy build and approximately 5ft 6ins tall. He was wearing a dark puffer jacket and dark trousers.

A Met Police spokesman said: “Detectives from Croydon CID are investigating and believe the victim was attacked by two male suspects who then ran along Bensham Lane towards Cameron Road.

“They are eager to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident or has information on the two men who fled the scene shortly after.”
