A man is fighting for life in hospital after being shot during a mass brawl in south London.
The 28-year-old man was gunned down after a large fight broke out at the Bridgstock Function Rooms in Thornton Heath in the early hours of Sunday, police said.
Officers were alerted to the violence in Bridgstock Parade, near London Road at about 5am.
But when police arrived at the scene, they did not find anybody injured.
A short while later, officers were called to a south London hospital where the victim had taken himself for treatment to a gunshot wound.
He remained in hospital in a critical condition on Monday afternoon.
Detectives from the Trident and Area Crime Command are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
Detective Inspector Edward Facer who leads the investigation said: "A man is in hospital fighting for his life following this incident at the weekend.
“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who was at the Function Rooms on the night of 26/27 November and witnessed an altercation inside the venue."
No arrests have been made. Enquiries continue.
