Police were called to a playing field in south London after reports of a couple having sex in public.
Witnesses said the couple were "going mad at it" in the park in Purley, which is close to several nurseries and a primary school.
One concerned father told the Croydon Advertiser: "My wife phoned the police because they were all over each other, they were going mad at it. It's disgusting in the middle of the day, especially when there are children playing."
The alleged incident was reported to have happened on the Rotary Field in Brighton Road at around 2.30pm.
A police spokesman said officers attended but the couple had dispersed and there were no arrests.
Having sex in public is prohibited under the common law offence of outraging public decency.
