The teenage girl who was killed in Croydon this week is the 15th teenage victim of homicide in London so far this year.

Schoolgirl Elianne Andam, 15, lost her life in the London borough after being knifed in the neck with a foot-long blade during the Wednesday morning rush hour in Croydon.

She became the 15th victim and the 13th knife victim of 2023— the other two were shot.

Elianne was a pupil of Old Palace of John Whitgift School in Croydon and her post-mortem was due to take place later this week.

The 17-year-old boy, who knew the victim, was arrested just over an hour after the attack, which took place on busy Wellesley Road at around 8.30am.

A steady flow of well-wishers left flowers and cards near the scene on Wednesday evening, and Elianne’s school paid tribute to its “valued friend and pupil”.

The others who have died in the capital this year so far are:

Chima Osuji

On April 10, the 17-year-old died after being fatally stabbed. He was being chased by an attacker in Chingford.

Neighbours, paramedics, and police battled to save the boy but he was declared dead at the scene.

Police said they arrested two boys, aged 15 and 16, at residential addresses in Chingford shortly after.

A friend paid tribute to Chima, saying: “He was a really close friend of mine. He didn’t have a single ounce of hatred in his heart. He was such a nice person and not a single problem would be caused by him.”

Tyler McDermott

The 17-year-old died after being shot in the head in north London — the third youngster killed in a week of youth violence across the capital during the Easter school holiday.

Tyler McDermott, 17, had been wounded on an industrial estate in Norman Road, Tottenham, at about 4.20am that Thursday.

Police officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found him suffering a gunshot injury.

He was taken to hospital in a critical condition, having sustained life-threatening injuries but died the following day.

Wazabakana Elenda Jordan Kukabu (Jordan)

Officers were called at 11.47pm on May 5 to reports of men armed with machetes near Dagenham Heathway Tube station.

Wazabakana Elenda Jordan Kukabu, known as Jordan, 18, from RomfordEssex, was stabbed to death.

A post-mortem examination gave the cause of death as single stab wound to the chest.

Renell Charles

Another death occured on May 5, that of Renell Charles, 16, a pupil at Kelmscott School in Walthamstow, who was ambushed and fatally stabbed in the chest near his school.

The teenager was slain outside his school gates and had talked about knife crime robbing him of innocent friends “just like me” in a haunting video filmed just months before his murder.

Khaled Saleh

On June 17, Khaled Saleh was found with stab wounds in Paddington Green, central London.

A teenager was charged with murder after the 17-year-old boy died.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on June 22, having been arrested the previous day.

Two other teenage boys were also arrested on suspicion of murder. One remains in custody, while the other has been released on bail.

Victor Lee

Victor Lee, 17, from Ealing, was found in the canal by Ladbroke Grove on June 25.

He was pulled from the canal but, despite efforts to save him, he was declared dead at the scene.

A post-mortem examination concluded he died from his stab injuries.

Three boys, aged 14, 16, and 17, have been charged with his murder and robbing him of his bicycle and rucksack. They deny the charges.

Leonardo Reid

Police and paramedics were called to the stabbing in Elthorne Road around 11.30pm on June 29.

Schoolboy Leonardo was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after midnight.

A post-mortem later confirmed he died as a result of stab wounds to the chest.

It is thought a group of around 40 youngsters were recording a music video in the street, before the incident happened.

Klevi Shekaj, aged 23, was also killed in the attack.

A man and a youth were arrested in connection to the incident.

Andre Salmon

On July 3, 18-year-old Andre was riding a moped when he was shot in the chest in Stamford Road, Tottenham.

Police and paramedics rushed to Constable Crescent at 5pm after Mr Salmon crashed his moped into a parked car.

But, despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe the victim was riding the moped along Stamford Road when he was shot by a suspect riding an electric scooter.

An 18-year-old man has been charged with his murder.

Rahaan Ahmed Amin

Schoolboy Rahaan Ahmed Amin suffered a knife wound to the heart and, despite paramedics battling to save him, he died in hospital.

Police were scrambled to West Ham park at 5.30pm on July 9 to reports of a stabbing.

An air ambulance was also on the scene of the knifing which took place in daylight near families playing in the park.

A 16-year-old was charged in connection to the murder.

Claudyo Jauad Lafayette

On July 14, the teenager was stabbed to death outside a birthday party in Brent.

Officers and paramedics rushed to the scene in Granville Road around 11.20pm on Friday but, despite their best efforts, Claudyo died at the scene.

An 18-year-old was arrested.

Stefan Valentine Balaban

Five teenagers have been charged with the murder. The boys, four aged 16 and one aged 17, all appeared at court in the following weeks.

Yusuf Mohamoud

Yusuf Mohamoud, 18, was found with fatal knife injuries near a supermarket in Regent’s Park Road, Finchley, on August 7.

Police believe Yusuf was stabbed near the junction with Lichfield Grove and then ran over the road to a supermarket.

Footage of the scene shows supermarket workers coming out to tend to the “seriously injured” victim before paramedics arrived.

A 15-year-old was later arrested.

Anis Omar Zen

He was found by police in Masefield Avenue following an attack in broad daylight and a 19-year-old man was arrested near the scene on suspicion of murder. He has since been bailed pending further enquiries.

Max Moy Wheatley

On September 20, Max Moy Wheatley, 19, was stabbed in Jubilee Country Park close to Tent Peg Lane in Petts Wood.

He died after being knifed in the heart.

Police and the air ambulance attended but Max, from the Orpington area, died at the scene.

Elianne Andam

On September 27, 15-year-old Elianne Andam was stabbed on her way to school in Croydon, south London.

Her aunt Marian told the Standard on Thursday: “She went to a private school paid by her sister and had a great future ahead of her. She wanted to be a lawyer. She also loved gymnastics and doing her hair.

“We are a big family and supporting each other. We are devastated.”
