A teenager is recovering today after being stabbed in the back by what eyewitnesses described as a samurai sword.

The 19-year-old was attacked in Canning Town yesterday morning and was taken to hospital for treatment. His condition was described as serious but stable.

Four men - aged 18, 17, 18 and 17 - were arrested in a minicab near to the scene and taken to an east London police station for questioning.

Eyewitnesses say the stab wounds were inflicted by a samurai sword.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
