A teenager has been stabbed outside a college in north west London - the capital's second such attack in just 24 hours.

The 19-year-old man was knifed close to the Willesden campus of the College of North West London, where he is a student, on Thursday.

The London Ambulance Service were called to the scene in Brent just after 10.30am.

A spokesman said: "We treated a teenager at the scene and took him as a priority to a major trauma centre."

A spokesman for the further education college, which specialises in vocational courses for students aged over 16, said: "The victim was taken to a central London hospital. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

"The police have confirmed that the injured person is a student of the college and we are providing every assistance we can to the police."

The spokesman added that the college takes the security of students and staff "very seriously".

He said an ID card is needed to gain entry to the college and there is security staff on duty throughout the day.

Scotland Yard confirmed an 18-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent.

He is being held a north London police station.

The incident comes just a day after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed outside Croydon College on Tuesday afternoon.

The boy was stabbed in the street just outside the education centre at about 12.25pm.

He was treated at the scene by medics from London’s Air Ambulance before being rushed to a major trauma centre.

His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
