A devastated family have paid tribute to their “protective” teenager who was stabbed to death in Milton Keynes on New Year’s Day.

Jay Fathers, 18, was stabbed six times, according to family, and died from a single puncture wound to his abdomen after being attacked in Walshs Manor at just before 3am.

Police said Mr Fathers died in hospital, despite the best efforts of medical professionals.

A 49-year-old man also suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital in a stable condition.

His older sister Holly wrote a tribute to him on Facebook, saying: “You are the best brother, so protective, you were there for me when I needed you. So loving and absolutely hilarious you made me the happiest.  I miss you so much my little boy, it's killing me.”

She added: "You had a heart full of gold I can't put it into words how much I miss you and love you. This pain is a constant pain that isn't ever going to go away."

His aunt posted an emotional tribute on Facebook, saying: “Thinking of my brother and his family after my nephew was stabbed 6 times on New Year’s Day. Sending love, compassion and healing to his friends and family R.I.P.”

A statement posted by Hayley Baggott read: "To help give my adopted brother and my best friends family give our Jay the send off he deserves.

“Words can't describe how we all feel right now taken far to young such loving son, brother and uncle.”
