A university student was shot and stabbed to death in the street during a spate of violence across the capital with five murders in five days.

The victim, in his early 20s, was found collapsed with knife injuries and a suspected gunshot wound outside a shopping parade in Enfield.

He was pronounced dead at around 1.10am on Saturday.

Another man was found suffering stab wounds and rushed to hospital, where he was today in a serious but stable condition.

Friends said the victim had been weeks away from graduating from the University of Hertfordshire.

Former X Factor contestant Havva Rebke, who grew up in Enfield, wrote online: “Another boy from my school has lost his life due to gun and knife crime? It’s just so awful my heart goes out to his friends and family.”

Yesterday, detectives in Hounslow launched a murder probe after a man was pronounced dead at the Heathrow Palace hotel.

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder while a woman, 19, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

A man, 30, was also today being questioned on suspicion of murder after a 42-year-old man was found dead with stab wounds on Towpath Walk, Hackney Wick, at 8.16am on Sunday.

Sixteen men under the age of 25 have been murdered in the capital so far in 2018, while the student’s killing is the third gun death in the capital in 10 days.

Joseph Williams Torres, 20, was shot dead as he sat in a car in Walthamstow last Wednesday, while aspiring rapper Kelvin Odunuyi, 19, was gunned down outside a cinema in Wood Green on March 8.

Last Wednesday 18-year-old Lyndon Davis was stabbed to death near Romford.
