A young man who was stabbed to death in Shoreditch may have been attacked after a row in a bar spilled out onto the street, police say.

Detectives investigating the fatal stabbing of a 26-year-old in east London in the early hours of Saturday say they believe he was attacked after a night out at the Rolling Stock Bar on Kingsland Road.

Police and paramedics raced to the scene shortly before 6.30am and found the victim with stab injuries. He was rushed to hospital where he died a few hours later.

Scotland Yard said that one line of inquiry was that “dispute or altercation” had taken place inside the bar as it was closing.

Detective Inspector Rita Tierney, who is leading the investigation, said: “The incident occurred between 06.13hrs and 06.30hrs on Saturday morning.

“As the bar closed, this dispute may have spilled out onto the streets with fatal consequences. Were you at the Rolling Stock Bar early on Saturday morning? Perhaps you were passing by the area by car or walking home. Did you see anything suspicious?

“This area has a busy bar and nightlife scene and people would have been in and around the area. We are keen to hear from anyone who has information about what happened and who was involved. “

Emergency services were called to Kingsland Road at the junction with Waterson Street at 6.29am following reports of a man injured.

His next of kin and are aware, police said. No arrests have been made.

Homicide detectives are investigating alongside police in Hackney. Extra high visibility patrols are being carried out by local neighbourhood officers following the stabbing.

Anyone with information is requested to call police on 101 quoting CAD 1802/24Nov or Crimestoppers anonymously via 0800 555 111.
