Shocking footage has emerged of a moped thug walking into a busy north London cafe and snatching a laptop from a woman's hands.

CCTV footage filmed at the Bread and Bean Cafe in Archway showed a helmet-wearing suspect dashing inside and grabbing the laptop from the victim who is sitting near to the door.

The 10-second clip, which was posted on Twitter, showed the victim working on her laptop next to a window as the thief walked in.

He then prised the laptop from her hands before running back out of the door and jumping onto the back of an accomplice's waiting moped which then speeds off out of view.

A number of people inside the cafe tried to stop the suspect who was too quick for them. The footage is being investigated by Met Police.

Moped gangs have been an increasing problem in London in recent months with many pedestrians walking along the pavements having their mobile phones snatched.

The cafe said it has been targeted by moped gangs twice in the last three weeks.

Speaking to MailOnline, cafe owner Valbona Sadiku said: "It's unbelievable that these moped gangs will now actually enter people's property, it's gone to another level, it's horrific."

She said moped robberies are now "so blatant and frequent" that police should set up traps to try and catch them".

The cafe has called on London mayor Sadiq Khan to do more to stop the worrying rise in moped gangs, tweeting: "[Sadiq Khan] this needs to stop. We need more police."

Islington Police said: "We are aware of this. It has been reported and is being investigated. We will be in Archway putting new signage up tomorrow warning of crime."

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on the non-emergency line 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
