A man has been rushed to hospital after being stabbed in a broad daylight attack in north London.

Police were called to a street off of the busy Seven Sisters Road in south Tottenham at shortly before 4pm on Tuesday after an alert from paramedics.

The victim, a man aged 34, was found injured after being stabbed in the leg outside Oatfield House on St Ann's Road.

He was rushed to hospital by ambulance where he remains.

Police have taped off part of the street, outside the No 8 hostel at the junction with Albert Road while they investigate.

Photos from the scene show blood on the pavement and what appears to be a small pile of clothing.

Several police cars and ambulances can be seen as officers stand next to the cordon.

According to police at just after 8pm, the man's injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.

A Met Police spokesman said police were called at 3.50pm to reports of a male who had been stabbed. Officers are currently at the scene.

Today's stabbing comes after the Met announced they had set up a specialist taskforce to tackle knife crime with 100 officers.

A week-long crackdown as part of Operation Sceptre saw more than 300 knives seized from the streets and more than 50 people arrested on average each day.
