A teenage boy was rushed to hospital after suffering burns in a suspected acid attack in east London.

The victim, 17, was treated for superficial burns after the shocking incident in Collier Row Road, Romford.

Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to reports of an acid attack in the street just before 6.45pm on Wednesday.

The teenager was taken to hospital for treatment but has since been discharged.

No arrests have been made and officers are appealing for witnesses.

A Metropolitan Police spokeswoman said: “Officers from East Area Command Unit attended the hospital to speak with the victim and are investigating.

“There have been no arrests at this time. Enquiries continue.”
