A British model has spoken of her relief after a bogus modelling agent was jailed for 16 years after luring her to Italy for a fake photoshoot and kidnapping her.

Polish Lukasz Herba, 30, was convicted on Monday of kidnapping Chloe Ayling after drugging her when she showed up in Milan for a modelling job.

She was held captive for six days at a farmhouse in the Piedmont region before being released at the Italian city's British embassy.

Speaking to The Sun, the 20-year-old descried her experience as "terrible" and added she was "desperate to... forge a new path now that the world can see I was telling the truth"

She said: "I'm so very happy this is all over. I am very pleased and relieved by the outcome of today's hearing and feel that justice has been served and I can get closure on what has been a terrible time for me.

''I am desperate to put this ordeal behind me, move on with my life and forge a new path now that the world can see I was telling the truth."

Herba was jailed for a total of 16 years and nine months after claiming Ayling agreed to the scheme as part of a publicity stunt to boost her career.

He said he was in love with her and they had come up with the plan together to help her financially following the birth of her son.

Speaking in court, Herba said: "I never hurt the girl. I was not violent with her. If she felt forced verbally in any way, I am very sorry. But it certainly was not as Chloe has described."

"I was in love and I was hoping that once her fame took off that she would repay me with feelings and we would share the money," he said.

However, Italian prosecutor Paolo Storari said Ayling was drugged with ketamine and put in a canvas bag before being transported to the farmhouse, where she was handcuffed to the furniture for at least one night.

She was held there fir six days before Herba handed her over to the British consulate in Milan. He initially told police officers he had released her due to the fact she was a mother.

Ayling had told prosecutors that she did not try to escape from the farmhouse because she believed Herba's threats that he was working for a big criminal gang who were constantly watching her.
