Police have released new images of a man whose body was pulled from a fishing lake in east London, after a human leg was first discovered floating in it last week.

A murder investigation was launched after the body was identified as father of two Neill Buchell, 39, who went missing on March 13.

Murder victim: police are trying to establish the whereabouts of Mr Buchell

Officers were called to White Hart Lakes, off Chase Road, shortly before 6pm on April 1 after a member of the public reported the human leg floating in the water.

The Met Marine’s Support Unit attended and a body was later recovered from the lake.

Mr Buchell disappeared from Braintree Road, Dagenham, on March 13 and was reported missing on March 18 after he failed to contact his two daughters.

Police are attempting to establish his whereabouts between the day he went missing and April 1.

Detective Inspector Chris Jones said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who may have seen, spoken to or know of Neill’s whereabouts between Thursday 13 March and Tuesday 1 April, to contact the incident room.

“Building up a fuller picture of his movements prior to his disappearance is crucial to the investigation.

“I would also reiterate appeals to anyone who has used the lakes recently if they have noticed anything unusual. In particular any local anglers who may have seen any suspicious activity or any new faces not usually present at the lakes.”

Three men arrested in connection with the murder were later bailed.

Anyone with information can call the incident room on 020 8345 3734 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
