Murder detectives are investigating after a woman was stabbed to death in Chelsea in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to reports of a 35-year-old woman stabbed at a property on Stadium Street, a short distance from the Thames, in SW10 at 1.20am today.

The London Ambulance Service rushed to the scene but medics were unable to save the woman.

Police say they know the identity of the deceased but are waiting formal identification.

Enquiries are underway to trace her next of kin. A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course.

A 48-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a central London police station.

Enquiries are ongoing.
