A police investigation has been launched after a man was shoved into a canal in Paddington.

Officers were called at around 6.30pm on Tuesday after receiving reports that a man had been pushed into the canal outside Brindley House on Alfred Road, W2.

Police and paramedics attended, and found the man had already been helped out of the canal by passers-by.

He was taken to hospital where he was treated for cuts and bruises before being discharged.

The suspects - described as black males, aged in their late teens or early 20s - are believed to have pushed their 53-year-old victim as he travelled along the path by the canal towards Ladbroke Grove.

A police spokesman said there had been no arrests so far and enquiries continue.

Anyone who witnessed the incident who has not already spoken to police or anyone who has any information about the suspects, is asked to contact the CID at Charing Cross Police Station via 101.

To give information anonymously contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org.
