Police today have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a bus driver was attacked.

The driver was carrying checks on the top deck of a route 75 bus outside Croydon College when he heard the doors open and someone step on board.

When he went downstairs he was approached by a man who subjected him to what police described as a violent and prolonged attack before he fled the scene.

The assault took place at 1.40am on Saturday, April 16, while the bus was out of service.

This image of the man they want to speak to was released on Wednesday, October 5.

The driver was treated at Croydon University Hospital for a large gash to his forehead and cuts and bruises to his face and chin.

Detectives from the Met's Roads and Transport Policing Command are investigating and anyone with information is asked to call Detective Constable Anthony Barun on 07801 203174.

Alternatively anyone wanting to remain anonymous can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
