Police investigating a fatal bike crash in east London have appealed to find another cyclist who may have witnessed the tragedy.

Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they believe saw 32-year-old Karla Roman knocked from her bike and dragged underneath a coach in Whitechapel on February 6.

The young architect was struck as she cycled near Aldgate East Tube station on the CS2 route in Whitechapel High Street, just before 9am.

She was rushed to the nearby Royal London Hospital where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries – making her the second of three cyclists to be killed in one week on the capital’s roads.

The driver of the coach stopped at the scene and was not arrested, police said.

Ms Roman, who grew up in Brazil and spoke four languages, moved to London in 2012 and lived with her boyfriend.

She began work at award-winning LOM Architecture and Design, based in Shoreditch, in January 2015.

Police are now renewing their appeal for witnesses and information about the crash more than three months later.

They particularly want to speak to the pictured cyclist, who was riding close to Ms Roman as they travelled along White Church Lane before he continued across the junction and onto Osborn Street.

Detective Constable Ian Payne said: "We are specifically appealing to the cyclist seen in the image to come forward as we believe he could potentially provide vital information for our ongoing enquiry."

The man, or anyone else with any information or who witnessed the collision, is asked to contact Catford Traffic Garage on 020 8285 1574 or police on 101, or via Twitter @MetCC.
