Police are hunting for thugs who hurled racist abuse at a train passenger and attacked two commuters after they intervened.

The incident took place on the London Overground as it travelled between West Brompton and Shepherd’s Bush on May 3.

Three men boarded the train shortly after 10pm and began to get rowdy.

Police said they verbally abused a woman and hurled racist language at an unidentified man who was on the train at the time.

Two members of the public also travelling on the train at the time intervened, but were assaulted by the trio.

British Transport Police investigators have released a CCTV image of two men they wish to speak to in connection with the attack.

Sergeant Tulin Akdam said: “I am keen to speak to anyone who witnessed this incident.

“The two people in the image may hold vital information which could help in this investigation.”
