British police were today interviewing a woman in Australia over sex abuse allegations against Rolf Harris.

Two detectives from Scotland Yard were questioning a 43-year-old about an incident allegedly involving the veteran entertainer in London in the 1990s.

The former accountant, from Wiseman’s Ferry, just north of Sydney, said detectives indicated they may fly her to London to testify should the matter go to court.

She said they also told her they were speaking to other people while in Australia.

Harris, 83, was arrested in March by Scotland Yard officers on suspicion of sexual offences after being investigated for four months. He denies all the allegations.

The allegations against him are being investigated by Operation Yewtree, the unit set up to investigate abuse allegations against Jimmy Savile and others.

Harris, who once painted the Queen, was originally interviewed by Scotland Yard officers in November.

A Scotland Yard spokesman confirmed the Metropolitan Police had travelled to Australia in connection with Operation Yewtree.

Harris, who was made a CBE in the 2006 Queen’s birthday honours, is now among 11 suspects being investigated by police over historic sex offences.
