A man in his 40s has been arrested after an attempted rape in north London.

Police were called in the early hours of the morning to reports of an attempted rape in York Way, Camden.

Officers arrived and arrested a man in his 40s on suspicion of attempted rape and possession of a Class A drug.

He remains in custody at midday on Friday, Scotland Yard told the Standard.

A picture taken at the scene shows a crime scene and police cordon still in place in York Way as an investigation into the incident continues.

The female victim is being supported by specialist officers.
