Detectives have appealed to Notting Hill Carnival revellers who may have seen a man allegedly attempt to pull a woman onto tracks at King’s Cross Tube station.

Arthur Hawrylewicz, 41, is said to have then been hit by a train during the incident at the Hammersmith & City line platform shortly before 1.30pm on August 29.

Officers said they did not believe he and the woman, Maria Osifeso, were known to each other.

Hawrylewicz was treated in hospital for head injuries.

British Transport Police said the suspect of Avondale Gardens, Cardiff, has since been charged with attempted murder.

Hawrylewicz remains in custody ahead of a plea and trial preparation hearing at Inner London Crown Court on September 28.

A week on, the force asked for anyone who witnessed what happened to come forward and assist them.

Detective Sergeant Mike Blakeburn, of BTP’s major, serious and organised crime team, said: “Our investigation is continuing at pace since the incident at King’s Cross Underground station this time last week.

“We know that at the time of the incident, the platform was extremely busy with passengers attending Notting Hill Carnival.

“I would like to make a direct plea to anyone who saw what happened and hasn’t already spoken to police to come forward, as your account could be vital to our investigation.”

Witnesses can text 61016 and call 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 266 of 29/08/22, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
