A passenger on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) assaulted a ticket inspector with a mountain bike, police said.

The man allegedly swore at the inspector before swinging at him with his bicycle after being told he could not travel with it during peak times.

After the staff member was hit in the leg with the bike, his attacker allegedly barged into him and threatened to throw a punch.

Detectives from the British Transport Police are now appealing for witnesses to the bizarre attack, which happened at Abbey Road DLR station in Newham at around 6.50pm on Wednesday, November 6.
